Ilkeston Carnival

This years Carnival float is coming along a treat! This years theme is 'under the sea', we would like to ask all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts attending on the day to wear snorkels and mask's if they have them or goggles if not.

We also need the following:- long coloured fancy dress wigs, flower garlands for wearing around your neck and battery powered bubble machines (with batteries included if possible). If you have any of the above that we are able to borrow for the carnival then we would be very grateful.

We also need helpers to construct our masterpiece on the morning of the 11th June, please see Baloo for details.

Group clothing collection

This is a great source of income for the group and over the past 2 years we have managed to raise over £1,000 by recycling your unwanted items.

You can help us this year by bringing your unwanted clothes, household linens, pillows, soft toys, belts, bags, shoes in pairs, towels and curtains to the hall on the 11th May 2011 and 18th May 2011 in strong black bags. Please be aware that unfortunately we can not take bric-a-brac or other non fabric items.

Bag packing

We will be performing our annual bag packing event at Tesco's in Ilkeston this weekend to help and raise money for the group. Please try to bring your Beavers, Cubs and Scouts along to the event and show your support.

2012…..100 years of scouting in Ilkeston

There's lots of fun planned for this huge birthday event. Leaders across the district are cooking up tons of fun activities from February onward.

We would love to hear from mums, dads, grans, grandads, uncles, aunts, friends, neighbours and anyone else you can think of who are or have been involved in scouting in Ilkeston. We want to hear yours and their stories of their scouting adventures, see any photographs, clippings or other momentos you may have stashed away.

Beaver, Cub and Scout places

We are also more than happy to provide you with the details of other groups in the area who may have places available.

May clothing collection

Following our successful collections in the past we will once again be collecting your unwanted items for recycling. Please put aside the following and check the calendar for collection dates...

Shoes in pairs, bags and handbags, soft toys, any kind of clothing, bedding, towels, pillows and cushions, curtains and household linens.
Items in all conditions taken, please ensure they are contained in a strong bin liner or similar.

Please note: we can not accept items before the specified collection dates and we can not accept bric-a-brac or books. Thank you.

New helpers wanted!

We are always looking for that next special person to join our team. We are currently looking for parent helpers on group nights in all section's and also have assistant leader vacancies in the Cub and Scout sections. If you are over 18 and would like more information on scouting with the 4th please send us your details via the contact us page.

We are also looking for helpers with our annual carnival entry, if you would like to help with decorating the float or could spare some time to help man our fund raising stall please get in touch!!

Ilkeston Carnival 2010

We need to create our float for the 2010 Ilkeston Carnival. As you will be aware, last year we won the prize for the best Carnival float and we want to do the same again this year!

To do this we need your help! To create our Carnival float this year we need the following:

silver, white, black paint
old ping pong balls
pipe cleaners
headbands (alice band type)
cooking foil
tinsel

If you can help with any of these or would like to get involved with the float itself the let us know as we would really love everyone's help.

Return of the bonfire

Our bonfire and fire work spectacular certainly went with a bang! With hundreds of people braving the wet weather to offer support we had a fantastic night. The burgers and hot dogs went down a storm and the firework display left even Baloo speechless!!

Well done and thank you to all the leaders and helpers who made this event possible, Thank you to the landlady and staff of the Rutland Cottage pub and a huge thank you to everyone who turned up to show their support, see you in November!!
